Traveling with Style and Comfort – Fun Fashion Finds for Paris
Bonjour mes amis!
Today I stray from food with this post about Fun Fashion Finds for Paris. I will be featuring items from the following stores: Madewell, Nordstrom, and Zara (and a little Brandy Melville mention at the end).
By now you are taking good care of yourself on the inside, making mindful food choices, and planning out daily exercise. Now how about bringing that healthy glow out to play?
We were expecting to do plenty of walking on this trip. Finding a comfortable pair of shoes that would match our attempts of being fashionable in Paris made the top of the list. I’m not willing to subject my feet to shoes that will hurt me, even at home – walking, running, dancing, and general foot health are far too important.
When I spied these mustard yellow (golden apple) suede Tretorns at Madewell I wasn’t sure they would meet my comfort standards. I have been so pleasantly surprised. They are equal in comfort to the Tretorns I wore as a kid when I played tennis. Now I’m wearing the fun yellow, suede perforated version that compliments my blue outfits.
There are many things I love about this striped jumpsuit. The fabric is light and very soft. It has pockets that come in handy. Added bonus – it’s easy to slip on and off so you don’t have to get completely undressed every time you go to the bathroom 😉 Lastly, there are built in bra pads so it is easy to skip wearing a bra with this outfit on extra hot days.
Zara is a store that we, teens and all, always enjoy browsing through. I found these fun, tassel trim shorts in cream at the Zara down the street from our Paris apartment rental. They have an embroidered pattern on the fabric that lends an elegant day time look. I’ve been wearing them non-stop.
With teen-aged girls there is always the latest, greatest ‘in’ store. Often the trends go out as fast as they come in. One teen savvy store in particular, Brandy Melville, has been a favorite of our teen aged daughters for several years now with no sign of going out of style.
I dedicate this Paris fashion post to our beautiful fashionista girl, Ava. Photo creds go to her – my travel buddy and photographer.
Not all days and experiences were perfect. There were mood swings and eye rolls at the tourist attractions with long lines; there was the day of itchy hives and an allergic reaction; and there was the big heat wave that caught us by surprise. Oh yes, and there was the night we got in after our long flight only to find out our shower leaks into the apartment below us!
Our best days were the ones when we wandered and explored in the streets, sat for hours at cafes, laughed at my French/Spanish/Farsi language skills (I was very good at mixing everything together those first few days), re-bonded, and people watched together.
We laughed so much while experiencing this classy, historic city. We missed Ava’s big sis’ Leyla together while she was traveling in Europe with her friends separately for the first half of our trip. We will need to get used to this feeling of missing her when Ley goes off to college in the fall.
In closing, “Always remember, keep your heels, head and standards high.” Coco Chanel. Dear Coco, thanks for the advice but I think I’ll stick with my Tretorn tennies 😉
Friends, thanks for joining us on a comfortable and fashionable trip to Paris. We are closing up our 2nd week here and are now re-united with big sis’ Ley. I promise I have a couple Paris inspired recipes already in the works.
Until then,
Á bientôt mes amis!
Bita
